Hometown Holidays

Brisk air grazes my face as I leisurely cruise down Main Street.
Smells of clear, fresh autumn aromas merge into crisp scents of winter approaching.
Hard working crew members hum jingles of holiday songs,
As they hang long strands of greenery from light post to post.

Wreaths with big red bows are placed for a mile so not one is missed.
Glowing lights stretch across the sky adding a luminous touch to starry nights.
A large green tree is covered with radiant lights that can be seen near and far.
Soft cheerful music is playing, inviting all to join in merry dance and fun.

It’s in these moments I ponder the holiday season quickly drawing nearer.
Local shops decorating their windows, switching from harvest to wintry love.
Flavors of cinnamon, peppermint, gingerbread, and chocolate fill menus.
Children’s faces brighten with the thought of lighthearted hometown celebrations.

Soon our town will be buzzing about the annual parades and festivals.
Times when neighbors and old friends gather and reflect on another year,
Knowing family members will return home and loved ones will be remembered.
No matter the size of the town, the street is ligned with locals waiting in anticipation.

Crowds assemble to listen as the marching band plays triumphantly through town.
While watching creative floats proudly stroll down the street.
Baking contests are held with opportunities for new local entrepreneurs to shine.
This season is unforgettable each year bringing traditions and new beginnings all at once.
