A Coffee Lover’s Dream – Links Coffee House Café

Let me start off by saying I am a coffee lover. A coffee snob is probably a more accurate description. I have drunk coffee since I was a little girl. I believe my grandmother invented iced coffee and lattes because she would load my coffee with cream and ice. I can drink coffee for every meal and all snacks in between. I love the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. And I just absolutely love flavored coffee. If you are anything like me, I would suggest that you take a drive into downtown Danville and stop into Links Coffee House and Café.
Recently, I took my own advice after dropping the kids off at school and decided to treat myself to the Pecan Pie coffee that I had been craving since last October. As I walked towards Links this particularly beautiful autumn morning, people were sitting outside enjoying their breakfast and attending Zoom meetings. I began to reminisce about, as a little girl, coming to Craghead Street with my grandfather to get tools and appliances for his rental properties, and to Main Street with my grandmothers and aunt to shop. Seeing the transformation of the River District today is amazing to witness.
As the door of the coffee house opened, the smell of coffee brought me back to present-day reality. The decor is so gorgeous in Links that I spend as much time figuring out where I want to sit as I do deciding on my coffee selection. One side of the coffee house is very intimate and perfect for meeting a friend to catch up over a cup of coffee, tea, or other specialty drink. The other side of the coffee house is a great spot to meet for a brief business meeting or study group. No matter where you decide to sit, inside or outside, it is worth a few moments out of your day to take in the ambiance that Links provides.
It’s not just great for meeting others; it is perfect if you need some alone time, whether you are grabbing something on the go, sitting down to enjoy a book, catching up on emails, or simply just sitting and collecting your thoughts.
I love coffee, but I love great customer service as well. Links does not disappoint there either. The owner, Wendy Brim, and her team seem to move in a rhythm that almost mimics a dance routine.
Not wanting to interrupt their flow, I asked Wendy, who has been the owner since February of 2020, what made her decide on owning a coffee house, and she said it was her husband’s idea. When Links’ original owner decided to sell, Wendy’s husband thought it would be a great idea for her to get into the coffee business. She joked that he was home sleeping while she was there covering a shift.
Links has been in Danville since 2016; since then, it has moved from one side of the street to the other, and the move seems to have worked because the coffee house doorbell just rings and rings from the steady flow of customers.
Of course, no coffee house is complete without cakes and pastries. Every slice of cake, every truffle, every item in the two glass cases makes you feel like a kid in a candy store. They also have delicious breakfast and lunch options. In my opinion, one thing that they do very well at Links is create an experience that makes you want to come back for more. Especially when I know that I can’t try every coffee on the menu and every dessert in a day, it is my new excuse for making multiple trips to Links in one week.
So, my fellow coffee lovers and tea friends, I encourage you to treat yourself to a Links Coffee House Café experience. You will not be disappointed. They also have catering options if you want to share the experience with your family, friends, or business colleagues.
