Local Business Owners Pass the Torch
HYCO LAKE – Born and raised in Burlington, NC, Lee and LuAnn Isley are high school sweethearts who have been married 31 years and have two daughters, a son-in-law, and hopes of grandchildren. The Isleys sold their home in Burlington and became residents of Hyco Lake in 2020.
While it seemed far fetched to friends and family, that leap of faith has been the exact change they were seeking. The Hyco community has welcomed them in true southern fashion.
In their search for outdoor furniture, they met Shera and Hal Henderson with Backyard Etc. As LuAnn fell in love with the furniture, Lee’s only request was to make sure it coordinated with the Appalachian State University theme of the dock. They are alumni and Yosef supporters as well as season ticket holders.
Football, golf, and fishing are Lee’s favorite pastimes. When Shera mentioned that they were retiring, Lee’s eyes lit up; he had always dreamed of owning his own business, and Backyard Etc .– with its premium product line, superior quality Amish-made furniture – felt like a dream that the Isleys could make a reality.
