From City to Country

Daily I stroll city streets, where black tops and guided white lines stretch for miles.

Gazing upon brick rooftops, as chimneys pump smoke.

Never a moment of silence only window to window noise.

Peering out in the sun peaked sky as buildings cast shade while birds fly by.

I smell the exhaust and taste the dirt circling high from iron cylinders stretching high.

City life is one to choose except for this country girl, green pastures are her home.

Take me where deer pounce and rabbits bounce through wooded acres.

Show me as farmers plow rows of bright red tomatoes and long leaf tobacco.

Let me listen to the corner church while a gospel chorus sings praises to God.

Keep me with family gathering, spending hours together not caring about time.

It is in the country life where widen smiles forever imprint the heart.
